Admixtures in Concrete

Concrete admixtures are used to improve the behavior of concrete under a variety of conditions. Here are some the the admixtures you can add to the concrete. Contact our office to learn more about admixtures and the percent/ratio recommended for your specific job. 701.852.3019

It improves properties of plastic and hardened concrete, provides a significant improvement in early stiffening and setting characteristics, improved workability and decreased bleeding and segregation. Used in cold weather concreting. Speeds up initial set time.

It retards the setting characteristics, commonly used durning hot weather concrete placement.

Reduces the water content of concrete to provide easier handling and finishing, increases strength, and reduces shrinkage.

Allows for a reduced water/cement ratio concrete

Synthetic fibers benefit the concrete in both the plastic and hardened state. Some of the benefits include reduced plastic settlement cracks, reduced plastic shrinkage cracks,  lowered permeability,  increased impact and abrasion resistance  and providing shatter resistance.
